Pray, is Governor Ayo Fayose ok?
Playing opposition politics within the boundaries of Nigeria is ok, but taking it outside the country and actively asking foreign countries not to help Nigeria come out of her current economic troubles is not only unintelligent, it is also subversion of national interest. It is in fact not very different from treason.
It is also suicidal. If the world refuses to help Nigeria based on Fayose's pleadings, will Fayose, his family and the people of Ekiti State over whom he superintends be exempt from the sufferings that would arise?
Coming on the hills of President Buhari's historic and economically highly successful trip to China, Fayose's own trip to the Asia Tiger to ask her not to extend any economic help to Nigeria is akin to biting his own nose.
"a responsible opposition party which aims to capture political power once again at some point in future must recognize the danger in itself, or any of its officials, involving themselves in any current act of omission or Commission against the nation"
Nigeria and Nigerians will remain after politics, and will definitely outlive Fayose and his PDP. It is only the short-sighted who does not recognize this. Fayose has proven to be short-sighted. It is instructive that despite his braggadocio and street escapades often spiced with amala, ewedu and Kponmo end runs, his state of Ekiti remains seriously impoverished in spite of being acclaimed as the most educationally advanced state in Nigeria.
But if Fayose is short-sighted his party, the PDP, leadership ought to know better. The opposition party leadership ought to know that having survived 16-years of the most devastating onslaught against her, Nigeria will survive and outlive any and every obstacle put in her way.
The much acclaimed resilience of Nigeria and her peoples nevertheless, a responsible opposition party which aims to capture political power once again at some point in future must recognize the danger in itself, or any of its officials, involving themselves in any current act of omission or Commission against the nation.
That Nigerians appear to easily forget the past is not because they have short memories; rather it is because they are willing to forgive. When push comes to shove however they never forget. This is precisely why the PDP leadership has a responsibility to draw the line for Fayose. There ought to be a time when the interest of the nation supersedes all other interests
