Free Governor Okowa – by Frank Ofili

Sometimes some of you APC Delta State political commentators are funny. You talk as if you live in Heaven. Your head is in the moon while your legs are left dangling on earth.
So you expect Okowa to be governor for eight whole years and not bring any form of development to his people?
Really? Are you serious? No of course not. You are a joke.
Now listen, criticize if you have to criticize, only be fair and constructive while at it. What makes criticism constructive is it’s analysis of the subject matter and the proffering of solution, ideas or alternative course of action.
PDP criticizes Buhari for taking rail line to Katsina and you rise in defense of Buhari. But here you are criticizing Okowa for proposing to establish a university at Agbor.
Look here my friend, when you become governor, don’t bring any development to your people, and when you leave Government House, retire home to your village and live with them in peace. You hear?
I see nothing wrong in Governor Okowa taking development to his village. Neither has Buhari done any wrong taking rail line to Katsina State. Governance is about making life easier for the people.
When he was governor of Delta State, James Ibori practically turned Oghara to the political capital of Delta State. He took Delta State University Teaching Hospital and Delta State Independent Power Project to Oghara. He even built a stadium at Oghara. The stadium once hosted WAFU tournament. Ironically, some of you saw nothing wrong with it then.
As governor of defunct Bendel State, Prof Ambrose Alli established then Bendel State University at his home town, Ekpoma. Today the school is known as Ambrose All University.
Agbor, or Owa Alero for that matter, has a right to be developed too. They are part and parcel of Nigeria. So also is Katsina or Daura. So, I see nothing wrong in establishing a university there.
If I’m a governor or President for even one day I would not bat an eye establishing something in my community, as long as I do it following due process and without denying other communities of development.
It is no wisdom holding power and not use it to benefit your people; it is foolishness. So free Okowa. Leave him alone! As long as he hasn’t abused his office, he has done nothing wrong taking a university to Agbor. What you should be concerned about is for the government to make sure the new university is adequately funded.
Personally, I have other areas I don’t quite agree with Okowa, but not on this one. Delta State needs more schools.
