Tinubu, time to come out smoking
592 viewsIf Ashiwaju Bola Tinubu was politically lukewarm under Buhari, he must not be so now that his political Godson, Osinbajo, is in the saddle.
Ashiwaju must now come out smoking without any pretences, unless he has given up on the APC. Let us not pretend all is well. APC is in danger. The only saving grace is that it’s main opposition, PDP, is itself in disarray. But that is temporary. We know PDP is capable of achieving the same level of cohesion with which it raped the country for 16 years.
So Ashiwaju must now call his foot soldiers in the NASS to order, unless of course they are acting out his political script. It is a known fact that his foot soldiers in the NASS have so far been as intransigent against the government as opposition law makers are – a development that has shown the APC as a strange party.
Enough should now be enough. It is obvious there are forces in the NASS and in the Executive arrayed against Osinbajo. Now is the time to start pressing political buttons.
We know that Buhari sort of politically sidelined him – a profound mistake by the way – but that was then. Now Buhari is out of the way, for now, due to no fault of his, and he has implicit trust and confidence in Osinbajo. Ashiwaju must now cash in on it and throw his political weight behind him.
Now that Osinbajo is temporarily in the saddle, it will be politically disastrous to leave him, and by extension, the country, to stew in the political soup of reactionary forces in the NASS and in the Executive.
Osinbajo too, must put his feet down as long as he still remains the Acting President. He must reshuffle the cabinet now. The interest of the country must come first before all other considerations.
Na so I see am oh.
