Omo Agege? Na!
694 viewsDid Senator Ovie Omo-Agege (Delta Cental) actually sponsor thugs to invade the Senate chamber and make away with its symbol of authority, the Mace?
I don’t believe it. Though one cannot vouch for anyone, Omo Agege is one of the very few level-headed, responsible, cerebral and urbane men and women in the Senate. I hardly think he is the kind of man who would be in cahoots with thugs and miscreants.
Judging him from afar, he is a man who plays by the books, a rule of laws man. We all can attest to how he used lawful means to recover his stolen mandate from PDP and Chief Ighoyota Amori. I hardly think a man who would seek recourse in constitutional means to claim his right would align with thugs to carry out an attack on the Senate, his recent suspension notwithstanding.
I think some people somewhere are setting up Omo Agege to take the fall for the crack that is gradually developing in the Senate. All things considered, I wouldn’t put it beyond some elements in the Senate to contrive this gambit not only as a way to galvanize the whole National Assembly behind its leadership, but also to cause accusing fingers to point in the direction of Aso Rock.
It seems some people are desperate to have an excuse to port to the three generals latest construct, the SDP.
Still, like I said earlier, one never knows. If Omo Agege did in deed sponsor thugs to attack the Senate, then I posit that that is treason and he should simply not be arrested and let go, but prosecuted and jailed. What in God’s name was he thinking?
All said, I urge the security agencies to investigate this matter thoroughly and let justice be done.
But beyond that however, members of the 8th National Assembly should get it clear that these are danger signals. Nigerians are increasingly getting tired of the intrigues coming out of that national edifice every day, For God’s sake, the members had better sit up and justify their humongous pay. For now, they are not doing that.
