Leave Enyama, Martins, Ogbeche alone

What is this talk I’m hearing about recalling Bartholomew Ogbeche to the Super Eagles simply because he has, so far, scored 7 goals in the Dutch league this season? I also hear muted voices about recalling Obafemi Martins.

Just when I thought the talk about Vincent Enyama returning to the national team has died down, this yeye yarn about Ogbeche and Martins are coming up.

Why do we like to cause problem where there should be none in this country? Ogbeche, Martins and Enyama have paid their dues and they should be left alone. We cannot begin to use the Super Eagles to rehabilitate expired, tired and retired players.

This is not the time for trials; we have gone beyond that. This is the time to work on the team we already have; time to begin to perfect our strategy and tactics for Russia 2018 World Cup.

We should be looking at the team we have right now and work on it – not destroy its chemistry. In working on the team however, we should look at the performance of the individual team members. Players like Kelechi Iheanacho and Ahmed Musa should not make the World Cup team – in my view – if they do not improve on their current form and performance.
