GOV WIKE’S OFFICE ON WHEELS

Information has it that Governor Nysome Wike of Rivers State has acquired a state-of-the-art mobile office at the cost of over N300 million (Three hundred million Naira). The mobile office is an omnibus tour bus of sorts and is the first of its kind in Nigeria.
The acquisition of the mobile office-cum-tour bus has raised some fundamental questions about the motive behind it. The first and obvious question to ask is, did the state House of Assembly approve this purchase?
Secondly, what is the real purpose for the purchase of the mobile office? Is the mobile office really necessary in these times of economy down-turn?
Other questions to ask are: does Governor Wike intend to operate on the road? If so, for how long and what then happens to the state government house? Would it not have been better if Wike had channeled the money for the purchase of the mobile office into rehabilitating dilapidated roads in the state so as to reduce the travel time in River State?
Other questions begging for answer bother on maintenance of the mobile office. If the mobile office-tour-bus breaks down, are there engineers in Nigeria capable of repairing it, or would the governor have to fly engineers from abroad? How would this impact on the finances of the state? These and many more questions are begging for answer.
