That Executive Order on Traffic Management

Your Excellency, your Executive Order on traffic management is being enforced in the breach.  I’m afraid all you have done is to open a corruption platform for the extortion of motorists and the enrichment of a few – at least from what I witnessed today.

At Cappa Bus stop (by Fatai Atere Way junction) on Agege Motor Road, the policemen and LASTMA officials stationed there have colluded to disable the traffic light. They now indiscriminately arrest and extort motorists under the guise of beating traffic light that is not functioning in the first place.

I want to believe that where traffic light is not functioning, LASTMA officials posted there are supposed to control traffic. Well, that is not what is happening at Cappa Bus stop.

It will be nice if you send someone there to clandestinely observe things. The Policemen and LASTMA officials there are making a killing. It is hard for me to admit that the behaviour I saw displayed today was that of government agents. At the end of the day, the buck stops at your table
