To equity with clean hands129 views
Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has warned President Buhari not to extend ongoing military exercise to the South-south. He also frowns at extending Operation Crocodile Smile to the South-west. He says Nigeria is not in a military regime, and then questions why the military exercises.
Let me remind the former President that four years ago during governorship election in Ekiti State, Nigeria was not in a military regime but he, Jonathan, as President then, deployed a whole brigade of soldiers to Ekiti. In fact, soldiers helped rig that election in line with his order as Commander-in-Chief. A recording was even made of that fraud!
I am also aware that during his watch he deployed soldiers to Onitsha. Was the country under military regime at that time?
He also deployed a detachment of anti-riot Policemen to the National Assembly complex to lock out House of Reps members in what is till date a most vicious assault on democracy that the country has ever witnessed. The Honourable members of the House had to resort to scaling the walls of the complex in a most unedifying manner so as to able to carry out their legislative responsibility.
Nor shall we forget how Aso Rock under Jonathan used then Rivers State Commissioner of Police Joseph Mbu to harass and harangue then sitting Governor Rotimi Amaechi. These incidents are too well documented for the former President not to remember. And now coming to assault our sensibilities with his holier than thou advice. Abeg!
He who comes to equity should do so with clean hands
I think the former President should do himself, and the country, a favour by refraining from making public comments. He should concentrate his energy in rebuilding PDP. Nigerians are not so dumb for him to think that we have so soon forgotten his calamitous days in Aso Rock.
