Protest: my turn
494 viewsNeighbour, Neighbour!! Good morning, I hear say Buhari supporters dem carry out their own protest yesterday?
Really? What were they protesting about?
I hear say dem protest in support of Buhari, as Charly Boy and him group do their own protest against Buhari day bifor yesterday.
Oh, I see. Well, we are in a democracy, every person or group of persons has right to protest. It is the hallmark of democracy. As a matter of fact, I think I should also arrange my own protest.
Shuo, neighbour, you protest? You wan protest? Protest what?
I am pro-Nigeria. I will protest in support of Nigeria.
How you wan do am?
Ok, this is how I will do it:
I will kick-start my protest from the National Assembly. I will protest against the 161 idle members of the House of Reps who have sponsored not a single bill or motion since 2015, yet they have pocketed N32 billion as salaries and allowances. I will protest against them for indolence and push for their recall.
Next, I will protest against the leadership of the House of Representatives for ordering for each of its 360 members, N17 million worth of car in these austere times. Total cost N6.1 billion just for cars alone.
I will protest against the Senate for not considering two Bills aimed at strengthening the war on corruption submitted to it since 2015 by President Buhari
I will protest against the Senate for frustrating genuine efforts of the Government
I will protest against the Senate for voting against devolution of powers. Apparently, they voted against it because they knew some of their own powers would be devolved too.
I will protest the humongous and unnecessarily large National Assembly that is a drain on our meagre resources
I will protest against ex-governors who are now Senators or ministers and still receiving pension. I will protest against ex-military generals who are now Lawmakers or ministers and still receiving pension
I will protest against political corruption
I will protest unemployment. Children finish school and can’t get jobs, and our lawmakers are busy living like emperors
I will protest against Nnamdi Kanu and hIs IPOB for threatening the peace, security and existence of Nigeria
I will protest against the Arewa youths for giving Igbos ultimatum to leave the north
I will protest the spate of separatist agitations all over the country
I will protest against the federal character principle that sacrifices merit for mediocrity
I will protest the disparity in cut-off marks into Unity schools
I will protest against the spate of kidnappings going on in the country at the moment
I will protest incessant herdsmen attack on harmless Nigerians and the general lack of security in the country
I will protest against state Governors who are owing their workers several months arrears of salary despite collecting two bail-out funds specifically meant for paying the workers
I will protest against the Discos and Gencos for giving us darkness instead of electricity. And worse, we are paying for the darkness at exorbitant rate. Yes, I will protest against epileptic public power supply
I will protest against our comatose educational and healthcare systems
I will protest prohibitive school fees. Parents can’t afford to send their children to school. The children end up as miscreants, street urchins, armed robbers or errand boys to politicians
I will protest against our infrastructural decay
I will protest the long travel time I spend on the road every time because of deplorable road condition
I will protest shoddy flight operations and frequent cancellations in Nigeria
I will protest high cost of housing and lack of Access to it
I will protest a lot more other thing, including a corrupt Judiciary that is fond of giving black market judgements and injunctions procured through corruption
I will protest the stalling, by the court, of the recall process of Senate Dino Melaye and the insensitive and arrogant verbose of the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekwerenmadu, that Kogi West constituents are wasting their time.
Finally, I will protest against all the deceptive politicians like Governor Ayodele Fayose who promised Ekiti people during his campaigns that he will use his old battered Mercedes Benz car as his official car, but now he is riding in a Limousine.
Now that you have heard all I want to protest against, I will appreciate if you will join me in this protest
I don hear am, but one thing remain
What is that?
Na who go sponsor you?
Sponsor me? I don’t need any sponsors, I’m doing it for my country.
Then I no go fit join you
Why?
Because nothing dey there now. How man go just dey protest without anything for pocket?
Then I am sorry for this country
