DANGEROUS GENERALIZATION – by Frank Ofili

I am simply tired of some very dangerous generalizations we make in this country.
If some few persons who happen to be Fulani by tribe and herdsmen by occupation, commit an act of criminality like kidnap, why not simply describe them as criminals or kidnappers? Must you describe them as "Fulani herdsmen" even when you are not sure they are Fulani?
"Why are done people bent on causing problem for this country?"
It is note-worthy that this development started in the wake of PMB assuming the Presidency, and it baffles me that some people are actually deliberately demonizing the Fulani simply because the President is Fulani.
No attempt to get me wrong please. I do not discount the fact that some crooks and miscreants may have infiltrated the clan of cattle herdsmen in Nigeria; but to attribute every of their nefarious activities to Fulani herdsmen is not only an unfair generalization, but also an insensitive comment to make, unless of course some people want to be mischievous.
When kidnapping was the order of the day in the Niger Delta, I do not recall the offense being attributed exclusively to Ijaw, Urhobo, Isoko, Itsekiri, Ikwerre or Okrika. Why are some people bent on causing problem for the country?
