Dear Obidients and Atikulators – by Frank Ofili
629 viewsLet me ask you a question. Let me leave Kwakwansiyya out of it. They were never there.
So, dear Obidients and Artikulators, my question goes thus: what if the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) comes out with its ruling tomorrow and affirm that, indeed, Bola Ahmed Tinubu did win the election, what would you do? Would you reject the verdict or accept it?
I have told you before, and it is the truth anyway, it wasn’t only APC that rigged in the last election. All the political parties that participated in the election rigged in one way or another, with or without the knowledge and tacit approval of their flag bearers. APC just happened to be the party with the superior rigging machine. But overall, you all rigged.
Emotions are not fact. Neither are they voters cards. There are no polling units on social media either. The PEPT can, and will, only work with FACT.
So better reconcile yourself to the fact that Tinubu’s Presidency has come to be. I have since done so myself.
I didn’t want Tinubu as President. I wanted Prof Osinbajo. But my choice didn’t make it to the polls, and Tinubu turned out to be the choice of majority of Nigerians, according to INEC. So I have accepted that outcome and reconciled myself to the reality of his Presidency.
I am now focused on helping him to deliver good governance. How, you may ask. By praising and supporting his good actions in office and condemning and criticising those that are not so good.
I think this is what you should do instead of claiming victory on social media based purely on emotions. Emotions are not fact. Neither are they voters cards. And there are no polling units on social media either. The PEPT can, and will only work with FACT.
That is that. As they say in popular lingo, it is what it is.
By the way, I heard with the corner of one ear that Obi, Atiku and Kwankwaso are gearing up to collapse their individual platforms into one unified mega opposition movement.
Great as the prospect may seem, I think it is a proposition dead on arrival for the simple reason that I do not see any one of them giving up their position and subordinating themselves to the other. Not Kwankwaso. Not Obi. Certainly not Atiku!
In fact, if you ask me, I think the proposition is an Atiku scheme to get back his relevance through the back door. The prospect only benefits Atiku and Kwakwanso. It does not benefit Obi. It does Obi no good at all. Obi is better off staying out of the alliance, unless the other two agree to subordinate themselves to him and make him the arrow head – something I don’t see happening.
Good morning. It is Tuesday!
