Dear Ndi Igbo political leaders

Five years ago I advised you to reign in IPOB, collapse your different political platforms into one and negotiate for the Presidency in 2023.

2023 is here – well, almost here – and it may seem late to heed my advice. But I think it is not too late if you start right now to do the right things.

What are the right things, you may ask?

1, Politic right. Stop politics of blackmail. Stop victim mentality. Stop playing victim all the time. The whole of Nigeria, not just you, are victims – victims of imperial Britain.

2. Shun confrontation. Reach out to other regions

3. Negotiate. Offer something for something. Nobody will gift you power unless they want to.

4. Collaborate. Your vote alone cannot give you the Presidency. You must recognize that.

5. Offer assurances.

6. Allay fears. You must accept the fact that IPOB has given your region a trust deficit. It is worse that some of you actually supported the activities of IPOB, but when they saw the danger, they pulled back. But it was too late.

7. So, you must now be loud and unambiguous in condenming all tendencies towards secession. Nigeria is your country, and you have as much stake in it as do other regions.

Please take note, if you miss 2023, the next time you would have a chance to talk about the Presidency is 2039. Too long! So do the right things now.
