Making America Safer? Na!

US President Donald Trump has signed Executive Orders barring refugees from certain countries from entering the United States of America. Given America's bullish diplomatic disposition it is not out of place to conjecture that she might urge some of her Western allies to follow suit.

I hear some people say that by these Executive Orders Trump is making America safer.

I say no! The man is simply breeding future terrorists. This policy may come back to haunt America and her Western allies at some point in time.

Those who say America will now become safer are simply presupposing that American interests lie only within the confines of the North American continent. Wrong. America has global interests and these interests are exposed…..vulnerable.

A frustrated refugee who cannot remain in his home country for obvious reasons, and who at the same time is disallowed from migrating to safety is perhaps more deadly than a self-confessed terrorist. It is only a matter of time. His hatred for America and her allies would know no bounds.

Also, I fear that with this policy Trump is departing from America's tradition of accepting refugees and ensuring freedom for the politically oppressed and persecuted.

 Instead of this isolationist policy methinks Trump should have retained Obama's policy of accommodation even if he has to modify it somehow. A policy of accommodation in these changing times is much better than a policy of isolation and rejection. The latter will only radicalize an otherwise peaceful but frustrated people. The end result would be a world less tolerant; a world full of strife and conflicts. The handwriting is on the wall as Trump tries to push America to withdraw  into its shell
