How did it happen? – Frank Ofili
520 viewsHow did the story get put out that some of the 94 Dapchi school girls kidnapped by Boko Haram had been rescued by our soldiers?
Now I am reading from every available media, local and international, that none was rescued. Both the government and the Military authorities are playing tongue-in-cheek without a clear pronouncement about the number rescued, if any. It is becoming increasingly clear that none was rescued. The government has even apologized to the parents of the girls for the misinformation.
Meanwhile, the parents of the victims are going through a harrowing experience.
It is sad and disappointing seeing a situation similar to the Chibok scenario playing out under Buhari government. It is unacceptable, and pertinent questions must now be asked, one of which is how a supposedly “defeated” Boko Haram was able to mount and successfully execute this mega kidnap in a supposedly militarily-locked-down state of Yobe.
If Chibok kidnap was used to characterize Jonathan Administration, this Dapchi kidnap must be used to characterize Buhari Administration unless the victims are rescued in good time.
Any well-meaning Nigerian must now begin to worry about the ease with which large number of people can either be kidnapped or invaded and killed almost effortlessly despite military and police presence everywhere in the country.
Kidnapping and attacking people in large numbers is not a bean and akara venture. I believe it will involve a great deal of planning, manpower and logistics to execute, which ordinarily ought to make it easy to detect and prevent by security agencies.
I mince no words when I say that President Buhari is fast losing it and unless he does something extra-ordinary, I fear for his place in history.
Many of his lieutenants are indolent. Some are even subversive to his government, and it is a wonder why he leaves them intact.
All well-meaning Buharists must help Buhari redeem himself by telling him the truth so that he will know the areas to address. We do not help the man when we tell him all is well. In all honesty, all is not well.
I don talk finish oh.
