A man is shot dead on the sidewalk of Port-Harcourt – silence, you scroll over it. Some even justify it and reduce it to a matter between Wike and Amaechi.
But a bomb explodes in France or Belgium and the social media space in Nigeria is awash with condemnation and sympathy messages. Some even change their profile picture to the flags of those countries in apparent solidarity.
Not that one supports killing of innocent souls. Any killing anywhere in the world deserves condemnation, but what is wrong with us Nigerians that any killing here does not elicit as much condemnation as it does when it happens outside our shores?
