Is it too much for a Python to dance?
392 viewsSomebody made a public statement giving reason why a Benue community was attacked and scores of individuals killed.
He said the attack was because 1000 cows were stolen. In other words, in the estimation of the fellow, cows were valued more than human lives. I’m not aware this individual has been arrested to help investigation.
But I am aware Mr. President has given the security forces marching orders to stop the violence across the length and breadth of the country.
Still, I do not think the order, nebulous as it is, is enough. Something more specific is required in some specific circumstances.
For example, the upsurge in the menace of the rampaging killer herdsmen, the Kaduna South killings and the cult war in Rivers State, need specific order, strategy and logistics to tame. I ask, is it too much for a Python to dance in these areas? Or a state of emergency, even if it is a partial one?
Nigerians are being killed every day. Mr. President is hereby reminded that former President Jonathan was sent packing from Aso Rock not because he was a demon, but because he was lethargic about securing and protecting Nigeria, specifically, in the manner he handled Boko Haram.
If care is not taken, Mr. President’s handling or mishandling of the herdsmen issue and other security challenges, would make or mar his Presidency and determine his place in history. God forbids that he goes the way of Jonathan.
Nigerians need to see specific action to tame the killer herdsmen which is now a threat to national security.
Left to me, every state governor should adopt the Fayose model. But since they are obviously not doing it, Aso Rock must now act decisively. Enough of these killings.
