Appointment
570 viewsLet me not make any pretenses. I support Buhari. I am who, or what, is known in the Nigerian blogosphere as a Buharist. It is a tag I wear proudly. I sing his praises whenever, and wherever he does good, I deny it not. But I also occasionally lampoon him whenever and wherever he disappoints. Most of the time though, I praise him because I see his efforts to tame our unrestrained profligacy and enthrone a culture of prudence, transparency and good governance.
For supporting Buhari, my critics say I am seeking appointment. My response of course is, yes that is correct, I am seeking appointment. Why the hell not? What is wrong with seeking appointment?
Who is that person who does not want appointment? Show me any normal person under the sun who does not want one form of appointment or the other. He who does not seek appointment probably has nothing to offer, does not aspire, has no ambition and has no self-confidence. He is a lazy fellow, an awobi, ode, olodo!
Seeking appointment is in order. Appointment is a word denoting positive direction, an outcome or an event. So, seek ye appointment for it is a good endeavor.
People seek appointment for several reasons and with different people. Some seek appointment with God, some with physicians, some for admission opportunity into schools, some for job opportunities, some for contract awards, some for political appointment, some with CEOs and captains of industry and commerce.
Others seek appointment with godfathers and godmothers, reverend fathers and reverend sisters, pastors, deacons and deaconesses, general overseers, imams, priests, babalawos etcetera etcetera. Come to think of it, even a former state governor once sought, and was granted, an appointment at Orkija shrine. Never mind that he later claimed to have gone with his Bible in tow.
Many more seek appointment with girlfriends, boyfriends, husbands, wives, concubines, mistresses, sugar daddies and sugar mummies etc.
Others want appointment with traditional and community leaders, local government councilors, chairmen, state governors, commissioners, legislators, Presidents of countries, ministers, lawyers, accountants, journalists etc. In fact, some people seek appointment with appointment itself. You seek appointment based on what your needs are at any point in time.
So, yes, I want appointment – appointment with opportunity to serve, to contribute my quota to humanity, to fulfill the mission for which the Lord Almighty brought me to life to fulfill. I want appointment with opportunity to fulfill the reason for my being and to be happy and to make others happy. I want an appointment with opportunity to touch lives and to reap the reward from it. If government offers me appointment, you can be rest assured I will grab it with both hands. And of course, I will charge a hefty fee. Don’t ask me why. I am not cheap, and my service is not mediocre
Don’t ask me why the reward angle. An appointment without reward does not worth the effort. For God’s sake get rewarded for doing what you have been appointed to do, but seek the reward in the moral and legitimate way.
Let he who does not want appointment raise his hand and say aye. If there is none, then I charge you to forever remain quiet and leave those of us who want it to continue to “hustle”. If you are offered appointment and you do not want it, please pass it over here. I will appreciate it.
If you have never sought appointment, I advise you to please go out there and seek one. Get yourself appointed and stop being a problem to society. There is no shame in seeking appointment. Even Dangote still seeks appointment.
