EUROPE HAS STARTED AGAIN

A military coup? In Europe? In Turkey? In the 21st Century?

Europe has started again. It has started to spearhead the return of a political culture that was already dying.

If this coup had happened in Africa, Western media would have used all sorts of expletives and unprintable names to describe us. That yeye CNN would have gone to town calling us the "dark "continent."

I hope however that this development does not inspire similar political development in any part of Africa and Asia. As we all know, we are good at copying anything bad, especially if it is emanating from Europe – forget that Turkey is part Europe part Middle East of Asia. 

Nigeria must lead Africa in a strident condemnation of this coup whether it succeeds or not.
